Sophia gave us a call on Monday about the broken glass on her 13-inch Macbook Pro Unibody. She had left the computer on the ground and one of her roommates had stepped on it, breaking the glass that covers the screen. She found us on Google and wanted us to come out to Ocean City, NJ so she could get it repaired while on Spring Break. Since she is out of our service area and it took about 2 hours each way to get to Ocean City, the repair was an additional $75.

We met her at her house (which was difficult considering many of the streets were flooded!) and the repair was done in an hour and a half. Her glass is perfect again and she can actually use it, which is obviously awesome.

While doing a search for posts on Twitter about cracked Macbook screens, we saw a tweet by a woman in Long Island who broke her husband’s Unibody Macbook Pro on Valentine’s Day. We @replied her, and her husband gave us a call the next day. Since they live in Long Island, we were going to overnight him a laptop box, have him overnight it back, do the repair, and overnight it back to him. Three-way overnight shipping would be free. This sounded good to John (the husband), but he decided to drive in to Philly for the day with his son and make a day of it.

He drove in today, dropped off his Unibody Macbook Pro, and went to King of Prussia Mall to buy his son a new toy. 2 hours later, we gave him a call and told him that his computer was fixed. He was absolutely thrilled. ‘It looks like it’s fresh from the Apple Store!”

Melissa called us a few months ago about the crack that had developed on the glass cover of her 13-inch Unibody Macbook. We explained that it would be $299 to replace her cracked glass, and she loved the price because she had been quoted $849 at the Apple Store, but she didn’t have the money at the time. Four months later, she called us back and told us that she was ready for the repair.

We ordered her replacement glass, and met her on Temple’s campus. Because the repair is a lot more involved, we had to pick up her computer and deliver it to her apartment later that day. Being in a Starbucks or a library isn’t the best environment to make sure no little pieces of dust get behind the glass. Believe us, it’s better that way!

2 hours later, Melissa’s Macbook was back to normal, and her glass was perfect!

[The first picture below doesn't really show the crack well, but it went from the middle of the screen on the left side to the iSight camera. A chunk of glass was missing from the iSight area. Really bad!]
