We got a call from Mike in North Wales, PA on Saturday night about the cracked LCD on his daughter’s 13-inch Macbook Unibody. He had taken it to a local Mac repair shop near North Wales after he called them and they said it would be $299 to replace the screen. He got to the shop and after they saw that it was a Unibody Macbook, they told him that in order to replace the screen, they would have to replace the entire display assembly, at a cost of $749.

Mike did a little research, and saw that we do Macbook Unibody LCD replacements for only $399. He was skeptical that we would be able to do it for the advertised price, but we assured him that if we weren’t confident in our abilities, the service wouldn’t be listed on our website. In fact, Unibody Macbooks and Macbook Pros are our speciality!

We met Mike at his office in Bensalem at the Professional Auto Exchange. We removed the glass on his daughter’s Macbook, replaced the LCD, and put the glass back on. The computer looked brand new, and there was no way of knowing that we even fixed it! Mike was thrilled!

Refusing to get a new computer that isn’t a Mac is a good way to get your parents to get your Mac fixed…

Bonnie called us up about the screen on her son’s 13-inch Macbook that had been broken for nearly 6 months. They had brought it to the Apple Store, which was where they learned that it would be about $800 for the repair. They took it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy too, which was around the same price. A repair out of the question, Bonnie’s son was reduced to using their old Windows laptop.

Her son’s perspective on the future of his Macbook changed when he saw one of the flyers that we have up at West Chester University. He called up his mom, she called us, and his Macbook was repaired that night. A climactic end to an extremely un-climactic story.

If your Macbook Unibody boots up with Windows 7, we won’t judge…

Marney gave our Detroit office a call last week about her son’s 13-inch Macbook Unibody. He had cracked the LCD and they needed it repaired as soon as possible. Because only our Philadelphia branch does glass and LCD replacements, we overnighted Marney a laptop box with a prepaid overnight label inside. She shipped it back to us, and we performed the repair in about 2 hours.

The Macbook was put back into the laptop box, and overnighted back to Grand Rapids. All-in-all, it took 2 days of transit and the three-way overnight shipping was included free of charge.

Everything went well with the repair, but we were surprised that when we booted up the Macbook, Window 7  booted up instead of Mac OS!
