…your computer screen when it falls from the desk. Apologies – that may be the worst reference to a Simon and Garfunkel song in the history of CrackedMacScreen. And apologies to Cecilia for beginning our post like this. Moving on. Cecilia gave us a call last week looking for someone to service her broken Macbook Pro screen. As the intro tried to convey, Cecilia had accidentally knocked her laptop off the side of her desk. Seconds later she opened it up to find a shattered screen.

After several Internet searches, she finally found a company that was local, could repair her computer screen in less than an hour and would charge much less than the Apple Store.  She called shortly after and we arranged a time to meet at the Escondido Kalmia Public Library.  Within forty-five minutes we had Cecila and her newly repaired Macbook Pro screen on their way.

Root Beer Happens…

No, we know what you’re thinking – the culprit in this case was not spilled root beer. Rather, it was a bottle of root beer. We got a call from Krista last night saying her son had a smashed Macbook screen. The incident occurred days ago when the family left their home in the care of the cleaning lady. Before they left the Macbook was fine, the bottle of root beer was on the shelf and the cleaning lady had just arrived. After they returned the Macbook screen was broken, the bottle of root beer was on the desk and the cleaning lady had just left.

Fortunately, a friend had heard of a service that repairs cracked computer screens. Krista gave us a call and we were able to fix her son’s laptop screen the next day. To all our fellow Macbook users out there, make sure your root beer bottles are level with or below your Macbooks. As we learned here, unfortunately, root beer doesn’t float.

If someone gives you a broken screened Macbook for free, $299 is an awesome price to pay for a Macbook…

We got a call from Nick at Temple University today while doing Deborah’s repair. He called us a few months ago about a white Macbook that he had that had a broken screen. It was his roommate’s computer and he gave it to Nick for free. Nick didn’t think he could do much with it considering how much he thought the repair would cost, but after seeing one of our flyers on campus, he was thrilled to find out that it would only be $299 for the repair.

So Nick saved up his money, gave us a call today, and we scheduled the repair for 1pm. 30 minutes later, Nick had his first ever Mac (if you don’t count his Apple IIe) for the low low price of $299.

Deborah works at Temple University and her daughter broke her Macbook a few months ago. She emailed us after seeing one of our flyers on Temple’s campus. She told us that she wouldn’t be able to get the repair done until today, and wondered when we could come “pick up the computer”. We explained that we do repairs right in front of you, which she loved.

We met her at her office at Temple and had her daughter’s computer fixed in 30 minutes. She didn’t even have to take a lunch break!

Greg gave us a call today while I was driving to Harrisburg for Leslie’s Macbook Pro repair. He was at the King of Prussia Mall and saw our ad in front of the Verizon store. He had just taken his Macbook to the Apple Store and was quoted $450 for the repair. He had already taken it to MicroWarehouse and they said $600 and they would need an additional $50 to ship it out. He wanted to see what we charge so he could find out where would offer the best price. We explained that our service is $299 and if he breaks it again it would be $100. Even with a second break, it would be cheaper than the other options.

Greg wanted us to come after the repair in Harrisburg, so we met him at his apartment and had his Macbook fixed in 30 minutes.
